We are convinced that the EEF Cup is not only one of the most striking and spectacular events of the Eastern Economic Forum, but also has great practical significance both for the residents of the Far East and for the state as a whole.

First of all, we believe that holding an international chess tournament within the framework of such a widely covered event in the media as the EEF is a real popularization of chess and intellectual culture as a whole.

Holding such a tournament in the Russian Far East is also an involvement of the Far Eastern intellectual and sports community in the all-Russian and global agenda.
We are striving to ensure that the sports level of the VEF Cup provides Far Eastern chess players with the opportunity to achieve the standards for receiving sports titles. For now, tournaments of this level in the Russian Far East are practically absent, and in order to receive, for example, the title of grandmaster, Far Eastern chess players need to participate in tournaments in the western part of the country.

When we conceived the VEF Cup, we proceeded from the need to create a system of complementary chess tournaments in the Russian Far East. That is why the winners of such Far Eastern tournaments as "City by the Sea", "Cup of the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)", "Cup of the JSC "Gidrostroy", the Far Eastern Federal District Championship are invited to the VEF Cup, and the VEF Cup itself has the potential to become a qualifying round for more significant competitions.

In fact, by holding the VEF Cup, we are demonstrating that the Russian Far East has a competence center and organizational potential for holding more significant international sports and media events, including under the auspices of international organizations.

Holding a tournament with such international representation plays an important role in overcoming the isolation of Russian athletes and is an excellent example of international sports solidarity.

The significant prize fund makes the VEF Cup one of the most necessary chess competitions at the present time, which allows us to support the professional activities of chess players in Russia and create conditions for preventing Russian chess players from changing their sports citizenship.

And finally, we believe that the mention of the EEF Cup in world news agencies works to increase the recognition of the Far Eastern region, making it a place of tourist attraction.
